Kwame

Welcome to our church. You can come into this church every day. But most people come specially to attend church on Sundays. As you can see there are benches everywhere so that people can sit during the service. During the service there are also moments where you have to stand for singing or praying. Often the organ is played during the singing. The organ stands in the back of the church. Sometimes there is a choir, too. The choir has a special place in the church so that the singing sounds nice through the whole church.

All the chairs and benches are placed in a way that you can see the minister, who's leading the service. In the Catholic Churches like ours, the minister is called the pastor; the Protestants call him or her the vicar or reverend. You also can see the altar. There are candles and a cross on it. The cross you can see on other places in the church as well. And if you look very closely you can see the cross on the steeple, too. In the corner of the church there is a baptismal font. That's a bowl with water placed on a big foot made of stone. Babies are often baptised with this water.

In a lot of old churches you can also see a confessional. People can sit there and tell God that they feel sorry for the things they did wrong.
